The First Holy Drop Of Rain
Gonpasingma received the sacred drop
from the heavenly downpours on 20th Febuary,Monday afternoon, meeting of
all the ausipiciousness to mark the Joyous occasion of The Birth
Anniversary of 5th Druk Gyalpo Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk." MEWAANG
CHOG KUTSE RINGWAA SHOO." I Offer my heartfelt Tashi Delek to the
King, country and people in rededicating my service to the TSA-WAA-SUM.
Winter sun is closing its glory yet no snow on the faring distanced
mountain tops. Only a bare winds blowing lonely in place, against the
hope of timely rain could be felt.
The clouds were cursed for bringing only cold and not making rain in time.
On that day, waking up from the bed briskly and looking out through the window never promised my day to"A good day."
However, little rising and eyeing over the vast blue sky bestowed me
glamour of hope for the day. The sky was completely dark.I could expect
some rain in the later hours. In the meantime,my heart was desperately
searching for heat because sun completely refused to smile for a while
in the place.
A place like GONPASINGMA well known for" The drinking
water shortage" is on maximum joy to receive the first drop of rain as
great blessings.
A land where the main source of income for
villagers were in the sale of potatoes, this sacred drop is a must to
wake up the dormant seed in the fields.
The first downpour has been the blessing to water source, water tank, field, land and dying earth worm and plants.
If you happen to see the water tank in every house hold,it was on the
point of collasping, for your surprise you will see no mosses or lichen
unlike other water tanks.Pipe lines were just a bleak history that
celebrates no success of its service to the people.
Forget about
washing clothes, maintaining toilet or taking a regular baths were
impossible when drop of water becomes like earning a dollar.in the
place. All most the very survival is dictated by this scarcity because
People become unfriendly and unjust in the name of water distribution.
Government's project in outsourcing the plentiful drinking water supply
called" KHOONMARI" remained as a distant dream for people. It has
failed for many days. Of-course there was nationwide news on BBS
informing the people that it has benefited the people of Zobel Geowog.
Many Staff who resides.in Gonpasingma school vicinity were adjusting
time in carrying water from the school kitchen.Beside lesson planing and
meeting the other school related works, carrying a Jerry Can or two can
be seen regularly.
Perhaps, aforementioned lines can be treated as a part of struggle in Gonpa if you really like it to call.
Facing the drinking water shortage in a place is blessing in the
disguise. The scarcity has resulted in treating the water as sacred in
every drop. People never mistreat and misuse the water. They have realized the importance of water. Thus, I feel making of offerings in
the shrine will equalize the worth of offering a gold for virtuous act.
Many
would be sleeping in the early hours of the day but seeing my colleagues
carrying the water filled Jerry can prick me the hard work of the
day.The act substituted the morning exercise to control bulging stomach of-course its been a harsh for the farmers who toiled hard to meet the
family needs.
I feel school technician(plumber) is in great relief
in harvesting the rain. He struggles a lot in managing the water to
students. His service exempted the students in carrying water to the
school unlike the past students.
Many passed-out students from this school narrates the story of their pain in carrying 5litres Jerry Can as a school goers.
The first drop of rain is a wish-fulfilling Jewel to light the water shortage in the place.
On that day,Sun was into the making of rain and I sensed the Sky was
Sunless. I Jokingly asked my friends to give back my sun. They laughed
and said" Sun is resting for a while to let rain wet the land."From lock
and key diary.

Traveling experience in Border roads
Traveling
is a great experience for all of us. A reason why traveling is must means
there is learning on life, culture and traditions, at the same time it is a big
fun. But all the time traveling experience doesn’t become a worthy of
remembrance.
If you happen to travel from Samdrup Jonkhar
crossing two boarders of Assam and Bengal to reach Phuntsholing or vice versa,
it’s going to be different experience for you.
The moment you enter the Samdrup Jonkhar exit gate to
Phuntsholing entrance gate, the fears will
struck you down to enjoy the various beautiful scenes and living pictures of
sub Indian ways; if you are not with an experienced traveler or the driver.
Being from the far flung village of east, there is
no excuse for person like me to avoid the border journey.
Ask few people, they have got lot more stories to
share the story of being raided or met accident in foreign land. There is no ways
than to risk the life. Many lost and sacrificed their lives and properties.
Speed is a problem. But can’t leave it away from it,
despite the fact a traveler has to cover a longer distance. Many scenes like
scattering of the stray hens stay dogs, stray goats, and stray villagers or
blowing away of the bicycle are common sight in the Indian high way express. At
least one accident scene is never missed along the meandering roads.
Who knows you may be the next in list to happen, if
you were not aware of it?
I remember traveling once in a taxi from Samdrup
Jongkhar to Phuntshpling. I woke up from my bed early as my alarm could ring. I
prepared for the next six to seven hours journey. At the back of mind, I had
the weird thought that I may not meet the accident on the way. So I did the
morning chants and the prayer to keep such wild thoughts at ease.
We started
the journey around 5; 30 am. It was a drowsy drive, because of the late sleep
after watching the various programs on geography channel inside the room. My
driver was driving recklessly at few points. He never stopped for a while to
give way to the cyclist or encountering oxen cart trying to cross the road.
On that day weather doesn’t favored us because it
was raining heavily and all the foggy distance added our struggle.
Unfortunately, the fog light was running out of conditions. Reaching somewhere
in the heart of the Assam, my driver hit another car while losing control in
slowing down the car to cross the speed breaker. I was sitting in a front seat
and my knee had sandwiched the desk port of the car. My head hit the front
glass and broken into few pieces and it was looking like the spider web in the
front mirror.
Looking at my condition I was fine but the condition
of the vehicle was horrible. To my driver’s surprise, colleen box was damaged
badly and car failed to run smoothly. After sometimes, it stopped running. So,
my poor driver got out and opened the bonnet, he checked the internal apart of
the vehicle and spotted the lineage.
It was a bad luck for me and my friend because we
are forced to pay some amounts in one of the car workshop on driver’s name.
On the other hand, one who was the victim of my driver
was so furious and shouted to us “Are you trying to kill us” but my driver was
speechless. Finally they settled the case and luckily their vehicle was running
in good conditions.
After the accident,
I had many turbulent emotions overpowering me time and again; I regretted
siting up in the front seat. On that day there was no charm in taking up the
front seat. Countless vehicles coming from distance click my adrenaline
awake.
Our journey took a sudden turn when my driver had
taken a wrong route to reach P/ling. Another fearful story started to pick up
when we have taken the road leading to Gomtu. We covered 15 km away from the
main route when few Bhutanese truckers could direct us back to the main route.
Finally, I could make to Phuntsholing but it wasn’t
a journey worth traveling. Any way thanks driver for safely reaching us to Phuntsholing
entrance gate.
To all Assami and Bengali people, Thanks for letting us to travel:
Thanks for the
Indo Bhutanese’s friendship!
Note:
If there were large number of travelers in the areas, aforementioned incidents
are likely to happen. If you were not conscious of the time, travelers, vehicles
and the driver, the way Indian treat the traveler will be different for all
the time, you may get leftover foods that were served to the fellow travelers
in restaurant, or become the complete victim of the angered Villagers. Please
keep yourself in full awareness when you travel in border areas! May this article
will serve as a constant reminder to you.

Learn To Be Like Karma Sir
Rationale: Sometimes, it’s
wonderful to reflect on what you have been doing and what you have done so far.
Believing in the words and actions of him, would give you a strength to move ahead in your life. Despite my several attempts to keep him connected, I failed it completely!. For now, with modern miracle of connecting people, I guess this would bridge the gap between a
teacher and follower. Therefore,I would like to write and take you through the
world of Mr. Karma Wangchuk. I hope you may find something inspiring.
I
have known him for just two years, and in this little time together I have
known him as a man of modesty. Really he is the subject of interest to me, and
you too may find him as a person of your kind if you encounter him.
I am scare sometimes that I may write wrong
about him with my limited perception. However he never gets moved
by either by praises or defamation. Therefore, neither do I expect anything from him nor would he consider
this piece as my jumbling of ideas.
Of course, many may not know about him.
He is just an ordinary man with good looking figure. He rarely smiles and never wrong him as being too serious. But in this ordinary man I have discovered
'extraordinary offerings' and 'wealth.' This ordinary man is a shining
icon of literature and arts.
If you happen to be at Paro College,
you may rarely notice his presence. He would be wearing faded clothes or
walking lonely sometimes in great thinking.
He would be the early bird to catch up
the morning glory. Mornings are special to him for he could see a bird or two.
Every night, a poem is drafted and on the next day he would polish the poem. A
chronic stomach ache bothers him, but he occasionally chants the mantra OM MANI
PADMI HUNG to ease the situation.
(Following are the reasons why "What
makes him so unique?")
Every society expects a man to get
married, have children and happily settle down in life, but he is far removed
from any of these. Rather he has found the lifelong desires to spent his life in most unique living.
I always appreciate him for the vast
expanse of knowledge he possesses on everyday subject matters. When you ask him about the books that he has read so far he will just smile
without any straight answers. For us number matters but for him, the contents
and the words matter. Talking about likes and dislikes on books, he lays his
hands on almost all kinds of books. He read an abridged English version of 'The
Mahabharata' and other books of adventure during his school days. Nature and
spirituality are other areas of his interest. Surprisingly, it
seems that for him the ideas are
within a blink of eyes..
Language is a problem for all of us. He
suggested to me that I should read on the subject that interests me, and also
immerse in some classical books once in a while.
He is an active writer too. He
writes very powerful poems and meaningful articles to suit the readers.
He has many self-created arts and books ready for publication. Here, I will
share his letter to my class six students. Dated: September 12th, 2016,
Dungmaanma,
Trashigang
September 12th, 2016
Dear Sonam,
I hope you are doing fine.
Everything is good here with me.
I want to say again that school is a wonderful place to be in. You are
surrounded by friends who share your time being together and teachers who guide
you throughout. The school offers you many beautiful gifts. One special gift is
the joy of reading. I hope you have found this gift in the school. When you
come home this winter I would love to hear your story of reading.
That is it for now. Your brother sends
you his love.
With love,
Your dad Dorji
Note: I requested him to write a letter
to my class six students. And they were happy to read and they have written a
reply to him.
(Arts and music as an integral part of his
being)
In college, he is known as Drama
Wangchuk to his colleagues and the student teachers. He engages students in
drama workshops and role play, and enables them to realize the benefits of
drama in both personal and professional life. Shakespeare is his most favorite
playwright.
He is a self-taught, passionate and
practicing artist. He is also a food
geek and a great cook. Everyday work is fun for him because creativity pays off.
He has visited many wild places in
Bhutan and a few in India. He knows the names of most birds and butterflies. He
loves snakes too. He is quite a skillful photographer. He loves plants, and for
a plant lover like him cutting down trees is unthinkable.
( Teacher of wealth and wisdom)
He is a firm believer in the power of
silence. Being silent enables him to create a space for contemplation and
self-reflection. He doesn’t talk much, but given a situation he can speak in some
Bhutanese dialects.
If you happen to visit his home, you
will be surprised to see that he doesn’t own a refrigerator or sofa set, of
course affordable to somebody of his stature. His life is so simple and
yet so unique. He is happy with what he
has. I consider him as the figure of all contentment because I see him
leading a happy life.
To sum up, this is a story
of man, who is taking the life in its own flow. It is about a man who sings the
freedom song like the enlighten beings. For me, it was worth meeting him in my life. I don’t know how we came to sharing of such
warm closeness, but meeting him was like finding some encyclopedic books.Being in his presence was like knowing who we
are and his modesty is the unusual gift for all of us. And this man has been my
wings of inspiration in reading, writing and learning the art of photography.
Until further, I write about him, he shall remain as complete mystery to man!
Disclaimer: It's intended for my
literary exploration and experiment.
Encouraging Note from Karma sir.HATS OFF! You took the
challenge to write something in an age where fewer people opt to keep this
dream alive. Any obstacle that you may encounter henceforth should not deter
you from writing, for it will only get better with more practice.
After reading:I am amazed that you chose to write about me. It is a good
move in the direction of becoming a writer of some kind. I am sure with
rigorous practice your ideas will flow more smoothly and crystallize better.
Keep writing!

Nima kuendrel's :
My College life
Now all most six months
have been passed after getting passed out from college, appearing exam and
joining the civil servants was like “History building in age” and everybody
does this. Considering a good time,
counting the blessings in life, I would love to share it as the bedtime story.
Often I passed through lots of tribulations in my flight against the mission of life
but keeping earth as my confidence, I have moved in life not like others but in
my own ways.
As if life is designed and
decorated for the first and last chance, before the date of expiry endows,
there is means of putting the last chance as “Golden chance”. If I were asked to
describe about college life I guess I have got lot more stories. Particularly,
life in a college is sorted out and can be understood as best kind of life
being put to test. It was a life that one enjoys the most or could be
considered as the best part of life. I guess the decision is yours because in
another side of the story one who roots from an average income family there is
no way for them to the smiling story behind one's graduation.
Some may consider that
college life is the ground for the next phase of life. The time waits for us to
contemplate on the marriage life or to start the self-earning living.
I remember the
sensational poverty line passing through when I was sent to the school. When my
friend was sent to the school I remained finding the longing joy with the cattle
at home. Fortunately, I found way to school: a poor village boy made the
journey of educations; but cattle were left uneducated!
In college days being
punctual remained just as a discussed theory for me. I remember fatefully
failing to submit assignment on time or boiling myself in the last hour of exam
preparations: but it had brought the lesson and it never eludes me in calling
myself a teacher of self-potentiality. The degree of fears and horrifying memoirs
still haunts my poor heart. However, there was pleasure in copy pasting and
stealing the secret individual intellectuals like ideas, theories or pictures.
Or we simply borrow the ideas and made sure they were consoled with the
comforting words of simply stating that ideas were borrowed for for their next
move or how to go about it. Only a little click of right hand could alter the
hours and hours of work into a single turn of ownership. At last the best grade
achievers were the last minute workers.
Reflecting on passing
days from library room to the lecture theater, working in hour to hour, reading
from single page to the final chapter of the library or reference book would
make me short of time to catch other activities. From football ground to
basketball court, given the choice, my class would call play field as PCD’s
home ground.
Another side of the
college life was learning well on managing the daily cyclical regularities. My
friend Choki writes “life is all about adjustment” in these lines I see true
wisdom of everyday living. Being in college does not go as poorer or smaller in
portions instead it was pulled and pushed by the rippling effects of peer
pressure. But choice is yours how you
go about in adjusting the life. At one
time, lots of pressure from girlfriend for not able to be on appointment time or
friends asking to join their long planed ventures but it was now a buoyant
memory.
Spiritual
savor
One particular event still
that was very remarkable was the meeting of the extraordinary master, Dilgo
Yangsi Rimpochey. I have read about his previous reincarnation and it was such a
moving experience to learn from him that he was same as the previous
incarnation.
He was very kind enough to grant me the teachings on his mind treasure and LUNG
on seven line prayers. If I were asked
to remember one particular incident I think being in the presence of Rinpochey
was the extraordinary moment one in my life. When I look back to the
conversation I had with him bring me the tears of joy. He advised me to take
the pride of being Bhutanese and take the ownership of varjayana country. He
said that the core principles of being Buddhist were ingrained in every
Bhutanese Genes.
During the annual
Drupchens and other ceremony I used to visit and get the blessing from him. All
the time Rinpochey would ask me “Are you fine?” I would say “yes la”.
Friendship
of four and 4pcd
The silver lining of so
called friendship and the meaning of friendship were learnt in those college
days. My group was together in all times celebrating the success as well as
failure in team. One thing that we as a group friend succeeded was uplifting
the team spirits and promoting the language policy. Our language was kept as English in daily
conversations, if ones fail to abide by the policy, one has to take to college
canteen for the treat without a single justification for breaching the law.
There I had the good time and was belching occasionally because it was my idea
behind this act but we can’t simply deny the undefeatable fun we get from it.
Inside a class we sat together. The class participation was the most memorable among
us because Cheki could execute her
working strategy well, while I was reluctant in taking up the roles,:Penjor
would be behind me when I was about to lose my debating points to the worthy
opponents. To the adjacent Kelzang would
be gazing at the internal game we had set forth to play. She takes up her role
as the moderator in every discussion with her wit.
As Sangay nurture the
dreams of being a composer and the singer with the “Mejay Mejay serious”
Drubjor makes the whole class laughable with his accurate imitations. Cool Bhadur smiling uncontrollably to everyone’s meeting was extraordinary. Kelzang
Orongpa’s group was very sets of hardworking peoples; they stood as hardworking
group, who had a better reputation in the class. While lazy groups of few could
make out in the last hours of the due date assignments, there stood a good
lesson for the class as a whole. In open class Lilly being the origins of
western would sing his favourite Sharchop song “SHIN THIIN DENI THURLU
RINCHODU”, all would find time to listen to him for an occasional jokes inside the
classroom.
Meeting
of karma sir
I met karma sir and it
was worth meeting him in my life. I don’t know how we came to sharing of warm
closeness, but seeing of this man was like finding some encyclopedic books in
my life. He expounds from way of life to the wings of butterfly. Being in his
presence was like knowing who we are and his modesty is the unusual gift for
all of us. And this man has been my wings of inspiration in reading, writing
and learning and arts of photography.
Joy
of an Adventuring
In every call on the
Saturdays would be next plan to go for picnicking or trekking. The places are
the part of learning. In every places there were lot more this for discovery.
When we are able to be friend with different places we invigorate the souls, since the
souls were put into sinking in bursting bank of materialistic world. We become
down to earth because wild flowers, air and the bees were sorts of natural
seeing every day that regulates it and let it forget the picture of your rooms where
you see the refrigerator, or seeing of the shattering news of thousand death on
television. We never appreciate in
everyday seeing, but by getting to the different places all the trails that
human had trodden become the living truth for us.
My four years of stay
was enriching and fruitful. I often visited Paro Kichu Lhakhang and Khyense
Rinpoche’s Museum in Paro that was the most touching place that I love to visit
again and again. For me the seed of spiritual journey was started on earth from
those places.
As I
keep on ruminating to those by gone days, I find all the treasuring moments as
fleeting moments that was afresh as morning dews. Perhaps, I feel life was,
made there in college despite compromising certain shortcomings and
understanding between the different aspects of life. For now,I find the timely solace
from three idiot’s song “Give me some sunshine, give me some rain, and Give me
another chance to grow up once again”.
THANK YOU ALL FOR BEING
MY PART.
He was very kind enough to grant me the teachings on his mind treasure and LUNG on seven line prayers. If I were asked to remember one particular incident I think being in the presence of Rinpochey was the extraordinary moment one in my life. When I look back to the conversation I had with him bring me the tears of joy. He advised me to take the pride of being Bhutanese and take the ownership of varjayana country.
